The alternative energy and management of natural resources and environment are the issues of interest of the Foundation and had been started since 2000 in the project for promotion of the Gender Roles and Environment
of Natural Resources and Environment, and cooperated with the Association of Appropriate Technology to plan community energy in Tambon U-lok, Lamduan District, the first tambon in Thailand to initiate planning community energy.
Later on the Committee on Sustainable Energy of Surin was founded, and the strategy “the Sustainable Alternative Energy” was successfully founded as one of the development strategies of Surin in 2003 (B.E.2546).The Foundation then developed itself to be a consulting team and organized the training programs for the energy authorities in building up community energy volunteers, and cooperated with Thammasat University to design the training programs for energy volunteers and followed up and assessed in 641 tambons throughout the country.
As for the main roles and tasks the Foundation having been continuously carried out up to the present are for the promotion of the communities to initiate the management of the community energy, sharing from planning energy, campaigning on building up the awareness of energy saving, using alternative energy technology, making the data on the energy movement, coordinating cooperation of parties with the relevant agencies to become networking on energy and environment, as well as getting access to rights and protecting community rights as well.
